The Colorado OutReach Exchange is a unique leadership development and community engagement program for high-potential member of the Colorado National Guard.
“Always Ready, Always There!” This is the motto of the National Guard America’s citizen soldiers and airmen. To reach that high bar, the Colorado National Guard is committed to training and developing its team far beyond the basics.
As Adm. Thad Allen, former Commandant of the US Coast Guard once said, “the site of an emergency is not a good place to be exchanging business cards.” It is the mission of the Colorado Outreach Exchange (C.O.R.E.) to make sure that doesn’t happen in Colorado.
Since 2011, the Colorado OutReach Exchange has been training Guard leaders at this higher level. CORE connects them with leaders from across the community–in government, politics, business, and federal, state and local first responder leaders.
Our goal is to deepen relationships across the community in preparation for the emergencies and disasters the Guard is so often called to address. And it’s working
Thanks to the relationships developed through C.O.R.E., Guard leaders are better able to adapt and adjust to the complex and shifting needs of an emergency situation.
Mission
It is a special calling to serve in the National Guard, part military service, part community service. Members of the Colorado National Guard are trained to respond to fire, flood and disaster here at home while training, as integral members of the United States Army and Air Force, to deploy across the world.
To be prepared for this broad scope of work, the Colorado OutReach Exchange was established.
The mission of C.O.R.E. is to establish a character-based development program to provide high-potential, emerging leaders an opportunity to enhance their leadership abilities, create a network of relationships throughout the state and expand their influence within those communities.
C.O.R.E. PROGRAM
C.O.R.E. is a proven approach to building relationships that enrich the Guards’ ability in emergency response.
Each year, the Adjutant General and his/her team identify emerging leaders to participate in the Colorado OutReach Exchange program.
These high-potential leaders meet once a quarter over the course of a year deepening relationships between the Army and Air Guard and establishing relationships across the community.
